Dear Bill,

You can find the information you are looking for in Dr. Sircus' books on Transdermal Magnesium Therapy. The first edition is available through Amzon.com and the second edition will be out within a month (hopefully).

In general, serum magensium levels are not a good picture of your intracellular stores as this is the LAST place a deficiency will show up and once its seen in the serum you are in danger of an imminent heart attack or heart problem. Red blood cell levels are a better way to measure magnesium levels in the body and are used by many knowledgeable physicians.

See the IMVA video No Test Required: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXhUeRFE-kg for further explanation by Dr. Sircus.

Sincerely,
Claudia French

I found this article very informative and it serves to generate a need for more teaching and understanding of what goes on in our bodies. When we take vitamins or minerals, many of us assume that a benefit from these will be achieved. I was not aware of intestinal problems affecting the utilization of magnesium and I believe that gluten intolerance may also create the same problem. I have heart problems and my interest in magnesium was primarily a concern with its effect on homocysteine levels.

I wish I knew why or when RBC magnesium levels vs. serum levels are indicated and what do they tell in comparison?

How much magnesium should be applied topically?

Thank you for the article.
